Hello everyone, I want to make my own molds. Can anyone give me a great recipe to make a mold that will do well and I can reuse in my firings for fusing glass?

I have heard a lot about hydrocal, silcia, etc. If there are anyone that can and will share a good recipe with me I would be most appreciative. In addition to anything regarding some sculpture.
I have read some books,

I want someone that has experienced the results.

Thanks in advance for any comments, suggestions.

Depends on what type of mold you need. Plaster and silica are only good for one trip in the kiln and then they fall apart. They do make good molds but are used mainly for casting glass.

For a reusable mold try something like raku clay from a pottery supply store.

You can form the clay, dry it, and then fire it in your kiln.

Lots in the archives and a few current threads about making molds.

Hello,
another question on that mold making, when you use the raku clay, is there anything you should put into this clay so you can use it more than once? or will this work in just forming whatever mold and drying it and then fire it.

Thanks for help
