I have been given a 200 'x 2' x 1/16" roll of Lytherm 550-LF fiber paper the original owner apparently bought for use in a glass kiln, but never used. MSDS online has the expected precautions about inhalation and handling hazards for this kind of material. I found a spec sheet here: http://www.fabricationspecialties.com/p ... m550-L.pdf

Seems suitable for insulation up to 2300 F, but really want to know if anyone has used it in kiln forming as a base for the powder crackle technique, or any other purpose? I obviously have a bunch of it and want use it (safely) if possible.

Also, what would be a safe testing approach for this?

Thanks

It's a good quality fiber paper. Use same precautions as any other fiber paper. Should work well for crackle, for lining dams, or similar use.

Wish somebody'd give me a roll.
