Kiln building book, Bert?

Post by jolly »

Bert, do I remember you saying you were writing a book on building kilns? If so, how is it going?
Everyone, if I need my kiln to be deeper for a special project, could I just lift the bell kiln, place some firebrick/ fiber all the way around under the edge of the kiln so the kiln came down to sit on the brick. Now the volume of the kiln is more because of the increased depth. Will this work or would I have to increase the power and the number of heating elements? I realize that the only way to be sure is to try it but I thought I would run it by to see if there are any serious reasons why it won't work. Thanks, Jolly
