Fusing glass to a ceramic tile

Hi all,
Perhaps a dumb question, but here goes..

I'm wondering about fusing a circular ring (or or perhaps later, slumping several rings) cut from a bottle, placed on a glazed ceramic tile, with the intention of the fire polished glass ring fusing onto the tile (to make a circular frame for painting within, perhaps with enamel or frit)
I cannot see any information on how a glazed tile might react with glass when placed in a kiln at glass fusing temperatures, but reckon that it is unlikely to do any damage to at least experiment and see what happens..

Would welcome any thoughts or warnings!

Thanks
Jon

Glass and ceramic have different coefficients of expansion, so will crack if fused together. The cracking could be anything from crazing, with small cracks everywhere, to so severe that the two will break apart after firing.

Experiment if you wish, but don't do it with anything valuable.
