Clear/ smooth 90 COE glass

Post by LCS »

I have used clear/smooth 90 COE glass for many years for most of my projects, especially to cap cabochons. I have been told it is no longer being produced. What is the alternative?

I suspect the "clear/smooth 90 COE glass" you're referring to is the machine rolled clear that Uroboros used to make. It's true, that's no longer being made.

However, you could use the regular Bullseye clear just fine. Even though it's not as smooth, it will do just as good a job of capping cabochons. Just hold for half an hour or so at 1230F on the way up.
