Hi everybody,

How would I dam a circle about 12" to 15" round, NOT having SS in Israel...

I would appreciate your comments.

many thanks,
Havi

Wrap fiber paper around the circle. Two times around is best. Then hold it in place with LOTS of kiln posts.

Thanks, dear Brad!

Can I use additionally copper sheet to strengthen the fiber? [not sure I have that many kiln posts]

Thanks
Havi

I'm not sure I'd use copper, not that strong. But you could confine the paper with nichrome (high temperature) wire instead of the posts.

Instead of posts, you could use cut up kiln shelves or kiln bricks (though the latter isn't as heavy as you'd prefer).

Many thanks, Brad

However, I forgot the most important issue -
I plan to create a round sheet from scrap - and this is more problematic, I am afraid.
I want to do a piece with powders - the way Parrish works, -
Hope to be successful

thanks again,
Havi

Yes, scrap is more problematic. I would consider having a clear circle of glass as the base and build on top of that.

I tried doing this but the paper did not want to stand on it's own. Does this work with Bullseye thin shelf or are you using a thicker variety?

Thanks,

Havi

Thinfire doesn't work standing up. You have to use regular fiber paper, 3mm or thicker.

Thanks, Brad. I'm realizing I need to have a supply of both in the studio. The extra thickness also helps keep the glass and ring from getting too intimate.
