Slumping Smooth Bottoms (yes I mean warm glass)

Now that I've got your attention . . .

I am looking for techniques that people use for getting the smoothest bottom when slumping into ceramic and stainless forms. I know that some surface detail is inevitable (it is going to be a matte finish at best) but I keep trying for a really silky smooth finish.

A drop mold will yield a perfectly smooth bottom. Correspondingly if your glass only minimally touches the mold it will only mark minimally.
