I'd like to know your firing schedule for fusing jewelry because I think I may be going wrong with mine :

1. Rate (degrees/hour) upto full fuse temperature.
2. Total time taken from start to end of full fuse temp.

Here's mine:

Ramp 1: Rate - 1200F to 500F Hold 5mins
Ramp 2 : Rate - 1299F to 1250F Hold 10mins
Ramp 3 : Rate - 700F to 1450F Hold 19mins

Switch off and cool.

Total time taken upto end of full fuse : a little over 2 hours.

what kind of kiln do you have? Every kiln is different, even among similar make and model. The thing is, your cabs didn't look over or underfired. I don't think overfiring is causing your problem.

Barbara - I have a Skutt GM10F kiln. I get a great full fuse at 1450F held for 10mins. What schedule would you recommend for jewerly?

What I meant to say was that only you will know what schedule works best with your kiln and the pieces you are making. Keep a notebook and record schedules as well as comments about the outcomes. You will know what works best by doing that.
