Hi! :P
I was wondering if maybe one of you can help me. Is it possible to fire polish a finished piece ( like a bowl ) without fistorting it? If so what temperature and for how long?
Thank you
Darci

You could leave it in the mold, go up slowly to 1000, then shoot up to 1350 approx., then back down to anneal. Schedules change from kiln to kiln, this is an approximation. Brock

What if I have slumped it over a mold?

What exactly are you trying to correct? Devit, rough texture, off center? It might help us determine best way to correct.

Hi,
I slumped a bowl over a stainless steel mixing bowl. I sprayed the top with Super spray to keep it from devitricating. Some of it ran is on the inside and it looks bad. I was thinking that if I could sit the bowl in the kiln without the slumping mold that I may be able to fire polish the inside of the bowl. Is that possible?

no. it'll flatten out. you'll need to slump it in a mold, and it will take the same and mold marks of the inside of that mold.

If you are really desperate,
you can make a plaster/silica mold around your piece.
Don't forget a splash layer, or pain the piece first with kilnwash.

Then you firepolish it inside the new mould.
If lucky you get a nice inner surface and matte
outer surface.
