tile saw depth

Hello all,

I've made what might be considered a monster of a pattern bar - at least for my little kiln!

I need to find a tile saw that can cut 2 inch depth. My lapidary trim saw has a maximum of about 1" ... and the model I have looked at at Harbor Freight is 5/8 inch depth.

Anyone have recommendations for a deep cutting tile saw? I presume they are out there ... what do the MK's cut? I have been thinking of getting one of those, but I'm wrestling between sandblasting and cutting! Both are current needs/wants.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Sadie

Hi Sadie

My MK-370 will cut up to 1 3/4ths", but I think that the MK-100 might go up to 3 or 3 1/2"?

Go to your local Home Depot or tool rental center and rent an MK100 which has a 10" blade. It'll go the job just fine. Depth of cut is 3 3/4 inches. http://www.mytoolstore.com/mk/100.html

Here's another good one (the FTS-150)

The blade that comes with it cuts beautifully. I'm very happy with this one.

Just got a Chicago Electric 10" from harbor freight and it is great on those 2" bars will cut 3 3/4" need to have a glass blade so I just ordered one from Hisglassworks. I looked on ebay and watched the Mk100 go from 99.00 to 410. and checked the internet and always ended up back to harbor freight. They had the best price for the depht I was wanting and the power also. 2.5 hp Hope this helps, now since I saved on the saw, :) I can get my sandblasting equipment!
